American Visionary Art Museum

The American Visionary Art Museum will begin a two-year project to establish policies, procedures, technical support, and documentation for its growing permanent collection of over 5,000 artifacts. The museum’s current collection management policies and tools inadequately meet its need to support scholarly research on visionary artists and their work. Project staff will bring collections management policies and procedures into compliance with best practices; implement a standards-compliant, multiuser collections information system to serve the needs of staff and constituents; and take digital images of collections. The project outcome will be a greatly enhanced intellectual and technical infrastructure to support the museum’s institutional goals for serving its users.
