National Society of The Colonial Dames of America (Dumbarton House)

The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America will use its grant to hire a part-time collections assistant/registrar for two years at Dumbarton House. This new hire will do a comprehensive inventory of the collection and compile full electronic records, including scanning of images, as appropriate, for each item. Additional activities include labeling objects, if necessary, and creating paper files of the collection. Lastly, the updated database will be uploaded to the online collections site for The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America. This information will be used to implement the Historic Furnishings Plan and support the development of a new interpretive plan. The completion of this project will offer complete intellectual control of the entire Dumbarton House collection.
