Kalamazoo Institute of Arts

The Kalamazoo Institute of Arts (KIA) will begin a project to improve its collections management practices. It will establish a protocol for creating descriptive and structural metadata for the nearly 4,000 works in the permanent collection, create standardized database records that accurately identify, describe, explain, and categorize works, and enable enhanced access to the collection via the KIA Web site. The two-year project will enable the KIA to be a better steward of its growing permanent collection, make it easier to search the collection, minimize the need to handle works, and facilitate the development of meaningful exhibitions and programming for public enjoyment.
