Leila Arboretum Society

The Leila Arboretum Society will use its grant to purchase software upgrades for its collections-management systems—the tools needed to continue good stewardship. Through this project, the arboretum will engage its community through relevant and useful interpretive signage and update its labeling software, which will allow it to update labels on mature trees and replace missing labels. The arboretum’s mapping software will be updated to convert the current mapping coordinates system to the Michigan State Plane Coordinates. This project is planned to be a stepping-stone for follow-up projects that will focus on digitizing the collections database and making it available via the Web.
