Historic Columbia Foundation

Historic Columbia Foundation, in partnership with Richland County School District One, the University of South Carolina, and the Columbia Housing Authority, will implement, review, and refine a series of youth and senior programs and activities and develop a community engagement plan for the Mann-Simons site, one of seven historic properties managed by the Foundation and one of only a few sites in South Carolina once owned by free blacks prior to the Civil War. The primary outcomes of this project will be the use of local history as the catalyst to extend meaningful outreach programs to high school students and senior citizens, and to enable the Foundation to build greater organizational capacity for community engagement.
