The SullivanMunce Cultural Center will host the traveling exhibit Remembered Light: Glass Fragments from World War II. The exhibit is composed of 25 works of art by 13 different glass artists. Each piece incorporates shards of glass US Army Chaplain Frederick Alexander McDonald collected at 25 different locations across England, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany from 1944 to 1945. Each art piece reflects the location where the glass was collected and recounts McDonald’s experience at that location. The overall goals of the project include 1) enhancing the center’s reputation as a regional resource for quality experiences in the arts and history; 2) building its capacity to offer multidisciplinary public programming that effectively engages the community; and 3) creating experiences that integrate the past with current issues that are relevant to the local community.
