USS Constitution Museum

The USS Constitution Museum will use grant funds for a hands-on, “Old Ironsides 1812 Discovery Center” gallery and programs, grounded in research and designed for all ages, to learn about the USS Constitution and the War of 1812. The Discovery Center will complement and enhance visits to the USS Constitution (owned and operated by the US Navy) located adjacent to the museum. This 1200-square-foot exhibit and program space will feature illustrations, interactive elements, text, objects, and related programming to explore the themes of “One Ship, One Crew, One Nation.” Both the exhibit and programs will be designed to encourage participation, exploration, and conversation. The Discovery Center will open by July 4, 2012, to coincide with the War of 1812 national bicentennial celebration.
