The Seattle Art Museum (SAM) will implement “Accessing a World of Creativity,” an outreach program that will focus on underserved schools and will expand SAM’s long-term partnership with Chief Sealth Public High School in West Seattle. The audience for “Accessing a World of Creativity” will consist of K–12 students and educators throughout the State of Washington, but particularly those enrolled in the Seattle Public School District. SAM will help teachers create units of study that will tailor museum resources to the specific needs of individual classrooms and schools including guided tours, art workshops, teaching artists in the classroom, professional development workshops, outreach suitcases, and online curricula. SAM will train teachers in visual inquiry so that they may infuse works of art as “texts” into their curricula.
