Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts

Log Number: MA-04-11-0288-11

In support of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts’ “Engaging New Audiences” initiative, the museum will develop two research-based programs, “After Dark” and “Family Arts Academy,” for families with children in Philadelphia public schools and young people between the ages of 18 to 35. The overall goal of “Engaging New Audiences” is to create meaningful art-related connections at the academy for these two underserved audiences, thereby increasing attendance and participation. “After Dark,” targeted to young adults aged 18 to 35, will include art-making and art-related programming elements created by a contemporary artist-in-residence, live performances, social networking activities, and imaginative gallery talks. The “Family Arts Academy” includes family art, multi-week art-making courses, art career fair and mentoring work for students interested in art, and an annual exhibition of family art in the spring, bringing families’ art into the public sphere.
