The Chinese American Museum will host an exhibition, “Breaking Ground: Chinese American Architects in Los Angeles,” that will document and showcase the architectural achievements and contributions of pioneering Chinese American architects in the development of Los Angeles’ urban and visual landscape between 1945 and 1980. The exhibition will focus on four architects whose designs had a significant impact on modern architecture: Eugene K. Choy, Gilbert Leong, Helen Liu Fong, and Gin Wong. The museum will organize a series of guided tours, public talks, and interactive workshops to increase audience appreciation of architecture and urban planning as well as awareness of the Chinese American contribution to the art, architecture, history, and diversity of Los Angeles.
