The DuPage Children’s Museum’s project, “Teaching Science Right from the Start,” is a professional development program for family childcare providers to acquire knowledge and skills so they can provide high-quality science learning activities for young children. This project will benefit young children from low-income families who are in family childcare settings while their parents are at work. “Teaching Science Right from the Start” will result in young children’s developing dispositions for science learning—curiosity, creativity, thinking, problem solving—so that they will be prepared for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics learning when they enter school. The project will provide an opportunity for DuPage Children’s Museum to assume an important leadership role with community partners to develop lifelong learning experiences around 21st century skills.
