Children's Museum of Fond du Lac

The Children’s Museum of Fond du Lac will support the research, planning, development, and implementation of its “Amazon Adventures in Education Outreach Program.” In collaboration with educators and community members, the museum will develop an interactive in-school program coupled with an optional museum field trip to reach approximately 1500 third-grade students from 33 schools within a 30-mile radius. The project addresses the need for substantive math, science, and social studies education in central Wisconsin by providing educators with the resources and support they need to engage and inspire students to be lifelong learners. “Amazon Adventures” will foster creativity, critical thinking, and global awareness in children as it exposes them to an authentic and relevant multidiscipline educational experience. This unique outreach program will support “Change the Equation,” the recently launched federal initiative to cultivate widespread literacy in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
