Iowa Children's Museum

The Iowa Children’s Museum will establish “MoneyWorks!”—a financial literacy project targeting children aged 4 to 10. The proposed project will add active financial literacy learning experiences to the museum’s current CityWorks exhibit in order to empower children with the knowledge and skills needed to create viable economic futures for themselves, their families, and their communities. “MoneyWorks!” enables children and their families to take on the roles of bank tellers, pizza chefs, doctors, and more in a pretend city environment where they can explore the concepts of earning, spending, saving, and giving. Through basic math skills, creative problem solving, and increased knowledge about wants versus needs, the project will inspire kids to become MoneySmart!
