Minneapolis Institute of Arts

The Minneapolis Institute of Art (MIA) will begin a planning and implementation project, “Evolvelle: A Next Generation Digital Experiment in Community Engagement.” The goals of the project are to increase access to the MIA’s encyclopedic collection in the digital public sphere, foster the participation of younger generations in museum life, and facilitate their engagement with living artists, curators, and nontraditional stakeholders. The MIA proposes to meet these goals through a planning process and three stages of implementation that will create experimental digital museum spaces defined by inclusivity, participation, plurality, and exchange. These spaces will meet core strategic goals of the MIA to engage the Internet generation and young adults with art, living artists, the unfamiliar, and each other.
