National Aquarium

Log Number: MA-04-10-0443-10

The National Aquarium in Baltimore will connect two successful conservation education programs—AquaPartners and the Henry Hall Program’s Watershed Wonders summer camp. AquaPartners works with the same set of 1,200 Baltimore City Public School (BCPS) fourth and fifth graders from eleven inner city schools. The interdisciplinary curriculum is conducted in the schools and at field sites on the Chesapeake Bay. The Henry Hall program provides a sequence of summer camp activities for BCPS youth from middle school through college. Twenty AquaPartners students will be chosen to enter the Watershed Wonders camp—a four-day, nonresidential kayaking experience that allows participants to study different Chesapeake Bay watershed environments. The project aims to offer a continuum of experience for students leaving the AquaPartners program, creating a new generation of environmental stewards and perhaps even scientists.
