Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey (Rutgers-Camden Center for the Arts)

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, will support Arts & Literacy Partnership activities between Rutgers-Camden Center for the Arts (RCCA) and Camden City schools. Activities will include professional development workshops to prepare teaching artists to develop second- and third-grade curriculum units that integrate their specific arts discipline with reading comprehension curriculum requirements. Professional development workshops for second- and third-grade teachers, and elementary art, music, and dance teachers will ensure successful implementation of the arts-integrated curriculum activities in the classroom. Furthermore, access will be provided to exemplary works of arts from the RCCA Collection that support literary enhancement activities. Evaluation and assessment components will measure the effect of the arts-integrated curriculum activities on teaching and student learning outcomes.
