University of Minnesota (Goldstein Museum of Design)

The Goldstein Museum of Design (GMD) in the College of Design at the University of Minnesota will begin a three-part project to explore independent living for seniors. The centerpiece of the project is an exhibition that explores innovative designs for housing technology, adaptive technologies within the home, and community design that can enable older adults to live independently and integrated into the larger community. Accompanying programs will have workshop templates made available to other communities. The project will also include a Twin Cities Public Television program to disseminate exhibition concepts and a filmed tour to both state and national audiences. A project Web site will make the first two parts of the project available to an unlimited audience long after the exhibition ends.
