Oregon Museum of Science and Industry

The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) will use its grant to fund “Earth Lab: Hands-On Experiences for Environmental Literacy.” The goal of the project is to increase understanding of fundamental earth science concepts that are essential to broader environmental literacy. To achieve this, OMSI will develop tabletop-sized interactive exhibits and museum programs, which demonstrate the dynamic nature of the earth’s atmosphere, land, and water, and emphasize the significant influence that human activities have on these systems. The project will address one of OMSI’s key strategic goals: to play a role in regional leadership toward sustainability by providing the public with hands-on educational programs about the earth and the environment.
