Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT List Visual Arts Center)

Complementing a previous IMLS-funded effort to reach new audiences and more deeply engage current audiences via online technologies, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology List Visual Arts Center is developing an audio tour of the campus art collection. Forty-seven publicly sited works will be featured. The two-minute segments will include details on the art and artists and commentary, often by the artists. The audio tour will be included as streaming audio on a centerpiece of the earlier effort—an interactive online art map—and will be accessible via podcasts and telephone. Partners include Acoustiguide and Guide By Cell, two acknowledged leaders in the field.
