The Yellowstone Art Museum (YAM) will develop a uniquely visitor-focused and interactive interpretive plan for the new Charles M. Bair Family Gallery as well as install an inaugural exhibition. The new Bair Gallery will be the YAM’s first venue to showcase rotating selections from its 7,300-object permanent collection year-round. “Montana’s Art: The Journey to Today” will be the first museum exhibition to focus on the full scope and development of visual art in the northern Rockies region from prehistory to today, examining the area’s entire art history in ways that invite all visitors to participate in exploring the ideas and influences that have given distinction to this region’s art. Project goals also include using the example of this region’s art to enjoyably introduce general art theory and concepts.
