Lowry Park Zoo

Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo (TLPZ) will partner with Audubon Zoo in New Orleans, Louisiana, and Seneca Park Zoo in Rochester, New York, to pilot its ECCO (Education, Conservation and Community Outreach) Leadership Program. ECCO empowers youth, especially those with limited resources, by equipping them with the resources and skills necessary to make positive, structured change in their own lives through self-discovery, throughout their community by becoming civic ambassadors, and to the earth’s environment through the practical application of conservation principles. TLPZ will provide technical assistance to the two partner institutions in replicating the project, with modifications, within their communities. Ongoing formal evaluation conducted at all sites will measure program effectiveness and impact on youth, institutions, and communities.
