Field Museum of Natural History

The Field Museum of Natural History will expand and grow efforts to train parents to engage their children in science. The museum will develop “Parents as Educators” onsite workshops, a family-focused “PlayLab E-newsletter,” a parent advisory council, and a “Parent Leader” program. Many parents lack the confidence or tools to shepherd their child’s early learning in science and are often unfamiliar with the unique science experiences designed for young audiences that are offered through museums. Currently, the Crown Family PlayLab, a family-focused learning lab at The Field Museum, provides a unique immersive learning environment that supports early childhood science literacy.
