Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art

Log Number: MA-04-10-0222-10

The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art will use its grant to fund “Project New Moon,” an effort to connect first-time and nonexpert visitors to key themes and learning outcomes, addressing an identified audience need to better understand the art and cultures of the West and Native Americans. The museum will create a dramatic orientation experience synchronized with active learning components in the museum’s galleries. Components will include a sensory-rich multimedia orientation experience, sound and light effects, selected objects from the museum collection, and engaging low- and high-tech interactive stations that specifically echo and reinforce the themes introduced by the orientation. The project will give the Eiteljorg the infrastructure and capacity to better engage new audiences and to convey messages about museum subjects.
