HistoryMiami Museum

The Historical Museum of Southern Florida (HMSF) will begin “Teen Miami,” a three-year audience-building research project and collections initiative focused on teenagers and teen life and culture in the city of Miami. Modeled on the successful “Teen Tokyo” and “Teen Chicago” projects and exhibitions, “Teen Miami” will bring twenty teenagers from diverse backgrounds and high schools to work at HMSF, learn about Miami’s history, collect oral histories and material culture, and develop content for a “Teen Miami” exhibition to open in 2013. As part of the project, teen participants will assist HMSF in creating a Teen Council and a Teen Docent program for the museum.
