The “Cuentos de Familia/Family Stories” program will allow Austin Children’s Museum (ACM) to build and expand on the powerful cultural identity themes of its signature bilingual exhibit “En Mi Familia/In My Family,” the country’s only interactive exhibit inspired by the works of acclaimed artist and beloved children’s author Carmen Lomas Garza. The project aims to increase the museum’s capacity to support child-adult learning throughout the community. ACM will launch a new school-family-museum partnership model for programs in low-income schools as it transitions to a new facility. The museum will refurbish the “En Mi Familia” exhibit to serve as an iconic cultural welcoming element to families and school groups who visit the new museum for years to come.
