Log Number: MA-04-10-0025-10
The Armory Center for the Arts will fund its “Community Pathways Initiative” to provide tuition-free, out-of-school, arts programming for underserved children and teens and their families. The goal of the initiative is to improve the lives of young people in low-income neighborhoods of Pasadena through free, year-round arts programming within walking distance of their homes and schools. The program provides, on average, fifteen hours of free arts classes and workshops each week for forty-eight weeks (totaling 720 hours of instruction each year). The “Community Pathways Initiative” forms the cornerstone of the Armory’s mission to build on the power of art to transform lives and communities. The program, which serves about 4,500 participants per year, will be offered as a nationwide model through documentation and lesson plans available on their Web site.
