Aquarium of the Pacific

The Aquarium of the Pacific will install a new exhibit, “Polar Regions in Peril,” which will capture and portray the essence of the magnificent Arctic and Antarctic regions. The temporary exhibit will immerse visitors of all ages and backgrounds in the remote polar caps through simulations, physical displays, and live habitats that will bring immediacy to the dazzling, alien environment found at the ends of the earth. It will connect the public to an environment that, although adapted to extreme conditions, finds itself ever more impinged by human activity and climatic change. Visitors will be encouraged to explore and educate themselves about the fundamental effect that these majestic, yet fragile, regions have on climate and humans. Guests will leave inspired about stewardship and educated on ways to lessen their own impact on the earth’s environment.
