Purpose: Supporting Lifelong Learning In this two-year project, the Cincinnati Art Museum (CAM) will strengthen the learning experience for families with school-age children who visit the museum. The project will specifically benefit families in the greater Cincinnati region and will have an institutionwide impact by laying the groundwork for improvements in years to come. This grant will support (1) programming in the recently opened Education Center that supports free-choice, or self-directed, learning among intergenerational groups; (2) the creation of a full-time staff position devoted to family learning; (3) a comprehensive assessment of how families experience CAM; (4) professional development for staff and volunteers; and (5) a cross-divisional planning process that will use this research and training to define a plan for sustainable improvement. This project is aligned with the museum's key strategic priorities: to enhance access to the museum for all members of the community and to strengthen programming and activate the full potential of the permanent collection to enrich the lives of learners of all ages. This project will help CAM more effectively attract families with school-age children, respond to their needs and interests, and provide them with rewarding opportunities to learn together and enjoy the museum's artistic resources.
