Purpose: Supporting Lifelong Learning The Dallas Museum of Art's Family Learning Program will strengthen and expand the programming and resources the museum offers children ages 3 to 12 years and their adult companions by increasing public access and creating family resources that can be maintained and used in the museum or through the museum's Web site. These resources will also be adaptable for use in the community through partnerships with organizations that serve families. The museum will develop new family-based learning resources to enhance the experiences children and adults have engaging with and learning about art in the museum's collection by developing and enhancing activities and resources such as Crossroads, Art Stops, Discovery Boxes, and the Family Audio Tour. The museum will create a whole new section of the Web site, geared to families, that will introduce works from the collections and increase awareness of the many programs and activities it offers for families, both online and in the museum. The development and implementation of family programming and resources will be guided by an educational framework, Levels of Engagement with Art, that analyzes and targets audiences by their degree of connection to art and their potential for becoming more comfortable with art.
