Purpose: Supporting Lifelong Learning The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum's Integrated Wayfinding Plan will enhance the experience of visitors to the arboretum by ensuring that they receive clear and ample information regarding the scope of available services and the location of gardens and other features of the arboretum, so they can easily find the destinations and services they seek. This project is planned to coincide with the completion of a new visitor center that will change the orientation services and alter vehicular and pedestrian traffic flow. Through the project, an arboretum task force will work with a professional wayfinding consultant to develop a wayfinding master plan that will meet visitors' needs. Project activities will include preliminary visitor surveys and evaluation of prototype signage during the development process. A clear signage and graphic system will be installed in the new visitor center and an electronic orientation kiosk will be designed, tested, and installed that will enable visitors to create individualized tour plans, pinpoint the locations of particular plants, and receive timely information on bloom schedules, current programs, and family activities.
