Tate Geological Museum of Casper College

Purpose: Supporting Lifelong Learning Wyoming brings to mind cowboys and Native Americans, the Rocky Mountains and Yellowstone National Park. But the state is also home to almost 500,000 residents who enjoy museums and libraries, fine arts, and the opportunity to explore the vast laboratory under the soils of the state. The Tate Geological Museum will provide field and prep lab work experience for people of all ages. These opportunities will help maintain current interest and create and sustain new interest in the geological and paleontological wonders of Wyoming. The museum will expand its field study and prep lab opportunities to new sites in and around Natrona County. It will preserve these new specimens and continue work on its primary exhibit, "A Walk Through Wyoming's Geological Time." The project will further the mission and strategic plan of the museum by providing a high-quality and engaging educational experience to college students, K through 12 students, local residents, and visitors to the state. These educational experiences will respond to the interests of those who come to the Tate and will heighten the visibility of the museum in Casper County and in the state.
