The National Aquarium in Baltimore will plan, develop, implement, and evaluate a staff-led interactive program for presentation in its 250-seat auditorium. Scheduled to open in May 2006 and tentatively titled "Watershed Moments," the program will be a key component of the aquarium's multifaceted strategic initiative for the Chesapeake Bay. "Watershed Moments" will provide the theme to link the various components of the initiative: exhibits; interpretive graphics; interactive elements such as computer stations, staffed discovery carts, and the free outdoor Waterfront Park; public programs and field conservation programs; and the aquarium's Web site. "Watershed Moments" will encourage active stewardship and lifelong learning by integrating visitors' varied experiences with the aquarium and helping visitors connect these experiences with their own lives in the watershed. Visitors may undergo their own "watershed moments" as they understand their personal connections to the watershed and are inspired to take action to ensure its ongoing health. The exhibit will offer connections to the aquarium's field programs and provide links to a broad spectrum of opportunities for community involvement.
