The Division of Libraries, Archives and Museums of the Virgin Islands Department of Planning and Natural Resources will use funds under the American Rescue Plan Act to help communities respond directly and immediately to the pandemic, as well as to related economic and community needs through equitable approaches in digital inclusion and library services. They will continue to support the goals of their Five-Year Plan for FY 2018-2022. In the U.S. Virgin Islands, specific goals address 1) expanding basic library services to address the needs of the community due to the effects after Hurricanes Irma and Maria; 2) identifying and establishing quantitative and qualitative data gathering protocols, outcome measurement strategies and reporting criteria for monitoring, evaluating and improving public library services, programs and projects; 3) providing educational opportunities for library personnel; and 4) continuing to expand on the scope of the Virgin Islands Automated Library System (VIALS).
