Staff from the Federated States of Micronesia will conduct site visits to three of its main islands - Yap, Chuuk and Kosrae - to evaluate the summer reading program. The program engaged two groups of children (K-4th and 5th-8th grades) and was intended to help increase access to the 26 libraries and 11 reading corners that serve the three islands. Project leads from FSM National Archives, Culture and Historic Preservation in Pohnpei will visit Yap Public Library, Chuuk children's Library and the Rose Mackwelung Public Library in Kosrae, where they will assess summer reading gains and discuss future literacy programs. The project will culminate in an evaluation report to be shared with stakeholders. Grant funds will also support staff participation in the Pacific Islands Association of Libraries, Archives, and Museums (PIALA) conference.
