CNMI Joeten-Kiyu Public Library

Joeten Kiyu Public Library, the designated State Library Administrative Agency for the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, will fund bookmobile staff, collections, and technology to serve youth in remote villages as well as older adults. These groups represent the largest number of native speakers with limited English abilities and face transportation barriers to the main library in Saipan. The project will bring bookmobile services to schools, youth centers, and the local Aging Center, and station additional staff at other partner institutions. These library services will bridge print and digital literacy efforts and extend the summer reading program to outlying areas. Grant funds will also support staff participation in the Pacific Islands Association of Libraries, Archives, and Museums (PIALA) conference.
