Feleti Barstow Public Library, the designated State Library Administrative Agency for the U.S. Territory of American Samoa, will investigate viable e-book options to expand digital services to its community. By surveying users and testing various delivery models through a consortial approach, the library will evaluate and ultimately implement e-book technology for the first time. Once available, this new format will help extend the library’s reach to remote parts of the territory and to segments of the population for whom digital technology is ubiquitous. The project will provide a model for other small island nations to expand collections and outreach to remote users. Grant funds will also support participation in professional development conferences for library staff.
