Feleti Barstow Public Library, the designated State Library Administrative Agency for the U.S. Territory of American Samoa, will establish an Information Literacy Consortium for the U.S.-Affiliated Pacific Islands. This project will create the framework for a regional collective of libraries and will initially focus on transferring ownership of the regional EBSCO database agreement from Pacific Resources for Education and Learning. By ensuring continued access to EBSCOHost databases, the project will address a persistent need for reliable sources of information throughout the territory and beyond. This access will build on the growing availability of computer hardware and connectivity across the islands, and it will support broader information literacy efforts in an economy shifting from manufacturing to knowledge services.
