The University of Illinois will partner with the Douglass Branch Library for a yearlong planning project that will explore the benefits of summer reading programs supported by the use of tablet-based apps and e-books. The planning for this project will include research, collecting information about current practices, and identifying future partners and will culminate with a design of a multisite project plan. In order to gather information firsthand, the University of Illinois will use a pilot study with the Douglass Branch Library to collect actual findings that will lead to recommendations on how to best support a summer reading program through technology.
