Utah Valley University, a member of the Deaf Studies Archive Consortium, will initiate planning for a central web-based access point to connect a range of disparate digital collections, allowing for improved search and access for resources in American Sign Language for the deaf community. The project will bring together partners Gallaudet University, California State University, and the National Technical Institute for the Deaf at the Rochester Institute of Technology to conduct planning meetings and collaborate with experts in the field. The goal is to consolidate resources in a way that will not only make these holdings more available but will encourage their use in new ways that take advantage of emerging technologies. Project outcomes will include a needs and feasibility statement, a lecture at the “Deaf Studies Today!” 2014 conference and an implementation plan to create a future Deaf World Library and Museum.
