This project will create a model statewide plan for preserving Washington’s cultural heritage collections. The plan will focus on four preservation needs that build on the recommendations of the IMLS-supported Heritage Health Index: collaborative disaster planning; building sustainable institutional preservation programs; public awareness; and a sustainable preservation program. The Washington State Library has partnered with five Washington state-focused cultural heritage organizations: Washington State Archives, Washington State Historical Society, University of Washington Libraries, Washington Library Association, and Washington Museum Association. The plan will be developed through two planning conferences and the work of subcommittees composed of members of the partnering organizations.
