Cleveland Museum of Art

This application proposes a new model for unleashing the power of the exceptional raw materials held by one museum--the Cleveland Museum of Art (CMA)--and one library system--the Cuyahoga County Public Library (CCPL)--through a unique partnership. It will create dynamic learning communities, connected by a very high-speed public network, that will develop new paradigms for education (both formal and informal), social engagement, and a replicable model for national museum and library collaborations. It will also create "knowledge networks" that access and combine the rich digital media of the institutions and allow them to be blended with the thoughts and resources of the targeted populations and will use high-resolution video-teleconferencing, shared access to intellectual assets such as images and documents, and Web-based community-building software to create a "wrapper of social interactivity" around the resources and communities.
