The Private Academic Library Network of Indiana

Log Number: LG-256716-OLS-24

The Private Academic Library Network of Indiana (PALNI) will complete the development of a prototype open-source reading list system, PEARL, that can be used to create reading lists and embed links to library resources and open-access learning materials within learning management systems (LMS). The project team will release an open-source tool that can connect to various library catalogs or discovery systems and be integrated into LMS using the Learning Tools Interoperability™ standard. The prototype’s code will be made available as an open-source project and will be accompanied by documentation for installation, configuration, and use; a road map for future development and sustainability; and a project web page and documentation toolkit to support consortium-level adoption and implementation of the software. The project will have far-reaching impact, as diverse libraries will be able to integrate library resources and open-access materials into their LMS, benefiting students in varied higher education environments across the country.
