Log Number: LG-256664-OLS-24

The Queens Memory Project at Queens Public Library will develop a comprehensive resource guide with case studies designed to empower public libraries in preserving local history and enhance their community archiving capabilities. Activities include leveraging existing community-driven archiving toolkits and other published resources to audit Queens Memory’s diverse ongoing collaborations with local community archives partners to find areas for expansion and improvement using the techniques and strategies put forth by the national community of best practice. By gaining perspective from outside expertise, the project will improve local practice in Queens and provide useful examples for case studies to be published along with a helpful resource guide for others engaged, or seeking to engage, in this work. In addition to the resource guide and case studies, expected outcomes include improved community engagement and enhanced digital archiving tools. Beneficiaries include public librarians, archivists, and their local community members.
