Log Number: LG-254856-OLS-23
The University of Kentucky’s School of Information Science, in partnership with the University of Illinois School of Information Science, will research how public libraries respond to book challenges and bans in their communities. The research will explore library director awareness of the American Library Association’s (ALA) suggested best practices, how often best practices are followed by libraries, the impact of deviating from best practices, what actions best serve libraries, and how standard practices can be revised to better guide libraries. The project team will share results at various library conferences and make the anonymized survey data available online. The project team will work with the ALA to update and improve the recommended practices and guidelines, sharing them nationally through state library associations, email listservs, and conferences
