Morikami Museum of Japanese Culture

The Morikami is collaborating with the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing at Florida Atlantic University to create a unique program that targets a growing demographic group: seniors over 65 who are dealing with depression. The study will determine whether and how museums can provide programs, such as garden walks and guided imagery walks, designed to improve seniors' mental health and overall well-being. Project findings may enable other museums with gardens or outdoor exhibits to offer walks or adapt existing programs for the same purposes. Study findings will be disseminated through conference presentations and journals, as well as an on-line training manual that will be made available on the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens Web site.
