Chicago Botanic Garden

The Chicago Botanic Garden, in collaboration with the American Association of Botanical Gardens and Arboreta (AABGA) and 15 institutions nationwide, will develop PlantCollections, a linked database system that will bring into circulation the knowledge of living plants that exists in the records of botanic gardens and arboreta. Project objectives include: developing a schema to represent information held in botanical gardens and arboreta, installing digital data providers at all participating institutions, installing at least one portal for accessing these data through the Internet, and establishing a training protocol for new participants. The project will strengthen relationships among the participating institutions and foster the sharing of information with the public.
