ExhibitsUSA, a national non-profit museum service division of Mid-America Arts Alliance in partnership with the Texas Association of Museums will provide training to improve professional practices and advance institutional capacity for small and midsize museums in rural Texas communities. This training will provide curriculum in four areas to staff of 24 selected museums clustered in Northeast, Southeast, and Northwest Texas. The project will provide participant museums with affordable temporary exhibitions appropriate fore the locale, featuring strong arts and humanities content. It will utilize affordable and professional museum training resources that reinforce "best and reasonable practices" in museum management, and invigorate or establish formal and informal museum networks among participating museums so as to facilitate routine, continued resource sharing. This on-the-job training combines theory with practice without disrupting daily museum operations or community access.
