In partnership with the St. Louis office of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), the Missouri Historical Society will develop a curriculum to help teachers impart skills needed to understand prejudice and discrimination and combat hatred. Using the collections as a source of historic examples of bias, prejudice, and discrimination and the knowledge of the ADL facilitators and teacher consultants, a curriculum will be put together for classroom use. A pilot program of teacher orientation and use in five classrooms will test this new learning tool. A second pilot incorporating lessons from the first pilot will be conducted in 10 classrooms. The final results will be a curriculum guide, resource kits, and implementation guides that will enable museums across the country to work with their local ADL offices on this topic.
