Minnesota Historical Society

The Minnesota Historical Society in cooperation with the Common Bond Communities, a non-profit provider of affordable housing and services in St. Paul, will combine formal and informal learning about history and citizenship in the Somali Skyline Tower History project. Skyline Towers is a public housing project that currently houses several hundred new Somalian immigrants, a significant new population in Minnesota. The partners will recruit and train young Somali women in skills of oral history collection and technology to begin to document their community's immigration experience. The collected histories will form a DVD housed in the museum's collection, and distributed to schools, libraries, and community centers.
