Mystic Aquarium

In partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of America, the Mystic Aquarium will develop museum-based interactive after-school programs to engage at risk fourth through sixth graders in real-life science activities. The museum will develop interactive program materials on DVD, CD, and the Internet, drawing on marine themes at Mystic Aquarium such as oceanic expeditions, sea lions, rainforests, and live feeds from the National Marine Sanctuaries. Activities will include live exchanges with scientists, research projects, and other inquiry-based activities. Evaluation will include examining both materials used in the programs and progress of the students' achievement tests. This model of creating interactive museum-based after-school programming will be disseminated through the Boy & Girls Clubs of America and through conferences and Web sites.
